Royal College of Music Award 2016

Molly Broadley

Molly graduated from the Royal College of Music with First Class Honours in July 2016. She studied with David Theodore, John Anderson, Fabian Thouand and Ruth Bolister, having also received lessons from Jacques Tys, Olivier Stankiewicz and Christine Pendrill. In July 2015, Molly was awarded the Earl of Dalhousie Award from RCM for having the most potential in a Scottish student. As part of this award, she gave a solo recital to the Knights of the Round Table at the Armourer’s Hall in November 2015. Following this success, she was awarded the English National Opera Scheme in September 2015 and was given the chance to play with Ruth Bolister and Helen Vigurs in their rehearsals for Verdi’s Force of Destiny. Within a few weeks, she was given the opportunity to freelance in the rehearsals and performances under the baton of Mark Wigglesworth. This continued into 2016, where she played with ENO in rehearsals for Wagner’s Tristan and Isolde. In April 2016, she was principal oboe in the RCM Symphony Orchestra performing Chaya Czerowin’s works. She performed as principal oboe in the Beethoven Wind Octet in E flat major, Op. 103 and Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker Suite Op. 71a at RCM, and was fortunate enough to play in the RCM Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Håkan Hardenberger in 2016. Since graduating, Molly has been developing her teaching career, and has just been accepted into Roehampton University on a Postgraduate Certificate of Primary Education course, to start September 2017.
