Barry McTaggart - 2025 Knights' Awardee at Inner Temple

I studied Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Queen’s University Belfast followed by a

Finance MSc at Trinity College Dublin. Prior to coming to the Bar, I worked a brief stint in

finance before moving to the Canadian Rockies, where I led a team of first responders at

one of North America’s largest ski resorts.

My transfer to the Bar was supported by Inner Temple scholarships for both the GDL and

Bar Course, achieving distinctions in each. Now my journey into pupillage is supported by

this generous scholarship from the Honourable Society of Knights of the Round Table, for

which I am very grateful.

I was a keen mooter during my legal studies and won the Inner Temple Inter-Varsity Moot

Competition 2023 and the University of Law Public Law Moot Competition 2023. I look

forward to bringing the advocacy skills I honed through mooting to my career at the Bar.

I begin pupillage in October 2025 with 3PB in London, where I will be focussed on civil

litigation.

Outside of law, I enjoy running, cooking, and ski-mountaineering.
