Michael Baines - College of Policing Award

Currently I am a Temporary Police Sergeant serving with Merseyside Police where I have spent time during the past thirteen years in various departments including Response - attending emergencies and critical incidents, Scheduled Incident Response Team - supporting and safeguarding domestic abuse victims, and as part of a review team researching evidence in order to make recommendations and improvements to policing methods.

Previously I was a Community Support Officer for three years concentrating on community work, reducing threat, harm and risk to victims of crime, promoting crime prevention and tackling Anti-social behaviour by effective partnership working with other agencies such as housing, local schools and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service.

Before entering into police work I was employed by Barclays Bank for four years as a Sales/Customer Relations Advisor.

The award from the Knights of the Round Table is going to enable me to further my career by studying to achieve a higher level in the Police Force by gaining a formal academic qualification.
